PLEASANT VALLEY – A 17-year-old female sustained serious injuries from a collision with a tractor trailer on Jan. 3.

At approximately 8:30 a.m., Colchester District RCMP responded to a two vehicle collision on Pleasant Valley Road, near the Highway 102 overpass.

The collision involved a small car, driven by the 17-year-old, and a tractor trailer. According to police, the car crossed the centre line while negotiating a curve.

Firefighters from Brookfield and Stewiacke departments extricated the female – the lone occupant – from the car and she was transported to hospital in Truro, then via LifeFlight to Halifax. Her injuries are non-life-threatening.

The lone occupant of the tractor trailer was not injured. An RCMP Collision Analyst has been contacted and will assist in the investigation, which is ongoing. Pleasant Valley Road was closed for two hours while police and emergency personnel were on scene, however the road has since re-opened.
