BIBLE HILL – A Moncton man is facing a number of charges after police recovered a stolen vehicle on Feb. 20.
At 8:45 a.m., Colchester District RCMP responded to a complaint of a stolen SUV from a service station on Pictou Road in Bible Hill. The vehicle was stolen while the owner was paying for his fuel.
RCMP members patrolled the area immediately, located the SUV on Robie Street in Lower Truro, and attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver left the area at a high rate of speed and police quickly called off the pursuit. The suspect and vehicle were located a short time later in the area of Highway 311 in North River. The RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit and RCMP Police Dog Service assisted the detachment in containment of the scene and arrest of the suspect without incident. The stolen SUV was recovered.
The 21-year-old man is facing charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, driving while disqualified, operating a motor vehicle while being pursued by police, theft of a motor vehicle, and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
The investigation is ongoing.
