This month, Corporate Research Associates Inc. (CRA), one of Canada’s leading public opinion and market research companies, launched the third wave of the Atlantic Business Confidence Survey sponsored by TD.

The Business Confidence Index is conducted online with business leaders across Atlantic Canada, including Chambers of commerce and representation of companies from all major sectors of the economy and all sizes of organization.

The Truro & Colchester Chamber of Commerce recently offered the opportunity for members of our chamber to participate in this twice-yearly survey to gain a better understanding of the business climate.

CRA has been conducting a Consumer Confidence Index in the region for the last 25 years and felt the time was right to have a business perspective on the economy in Atlantic Canada. CRA will produce a Business Confidence Index for each of the four Atlantic provinces and the region overall for comparison purposes. Everyone that participated in this survey will receive a copy of the results.

We are very pleased to share that Don Mills, Chairman and CEO of CRA, will be a guest speaker at a lunch and learn on May 17 hosted by The Truro & Colchester Chamber of Commerce at the Best Western Glengarry. Mills, co-founder of Corporate Research Associates Inc., is a strategic public affairs consultant and active industry and community volunteer.

Mills will discuss the current status of the Atlantic Business Confidence study and share insight on the business climate in the region.

Another exciting event the chamber is hosting in May is our second annual Lobster and Steak Kitchen Party. This is a great social evening with lots of good food, good music and good company. This celebration will be held on May 31 at 6 p.m. at the Truro Golf Club.

At a lunch and learn on June 9, we will welcome guest speakers Stuart MacLean , CEO of the Worker’s Compensation Board, and Michael Devenney of Bluteau Devenney , sharing insights on The Mindset Project looking at Entrepreneur wellbeing.
