TRURO – The Downtown Truro Partnership (DTP) is once again co-hosting Shredfest a night of skate and bike demos, fire performers and more in partnership with the Town of Truro’s Parks, Recreation and Culture department.

The second-annual event will take place on Aug. 12, on Inglis Place.

The first Shredfest, held last summer, drew huge crowds and garnered lots of positive feedback.

“We were pretty pleased with how many people attended last year,” said Ashley Simms, assistant director of Parks, Recreation and Culture. “Of all of the summer street parties that took place on Inglis Place last summer, we felt Shredfest was the one that we needed to bring back. People of all ages came out to check out the fun, and everyone had a great time.”

Acrobatic fire performers Incendia Motus will return from Halifax to show off their skills. Local skateboarders from HAF Skate and Tattoo and BMX bikers from Bike Monkey will also perform stunts on the mobile skate park that will be set up right in the middle of the street.

“We love finding ways to highlight the talent that exists within our downtown businesses,” said Sam Madore, executive director of DTP. “This year, we’re excited to be adding hip-hop performances from Cobequid Dance Academy to the line-up as well.”

Shredfest runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The street will be closed to traffic starting at 5 p.m. For a full list of Shredfest activities and entertainment, along with other events happening throughout downtown Truro, visit the Downtown Truro Facebook page.
