LOWER TRURO – A 75-year-old woman is facing numerous charges in relation to possession of illegal tobacco.
At approximately 8:30 p.m. Feb. 18, Colchester District RCMP responded to a complaint of an erratic driver in a minivan on Highway 104 in Masstown.
Police located and searched the vehicle a short time later in Lower Truro. As a result, a number of items were seized, including 13 bottles of illegal alcohol, 21 cases of unstamped tobacco, duty paid tobacco exceeding the allowed limit, and roughly $2,000 in cash.
The woman is facing charges of possession of unstamped tobacco, selling of unstamped tobacco products, and charges under the Revenue Act. According to an RCMP press release, this is the woman’s second offence.
She is scheduled to appear in Truro provincial court May 9, 2018.
